Im worried about chlamydia?

A few years ago I had this infection and me and my hubbyare trying to conceive now and I read it can spread to the female reproductive organs and cause infertility when the chlamydia does this how do u know and is it known as pid then or is it just the chlamydia when your fallopian tubes are damaged
